WHO WE ARE

We are

An association of pre-eminent energy law specialists throughout the European Union and beyond. AEEC was established in 2000 and has been growing ever since. Our members are considered to be among the leading energy law firms in their home countries with additional experience in associated areas of law such as utility and communication, and environmental law. The AEEC is first and foremost a platform for the exchange and sharing of expertise in regional and national markets in the field of energy and utilities. AEEC was ranked as No. 1 European legal network in Chambers Global Guide 2013 and 2014.

The members of AEEC are currently based in 19 different EU Member States (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden) as well as in several non EU Member States (Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine). Without shifting its European focus, AEEC has successfully established and continues to establish strong “best-friends-relationships” with non EU law firms, including in the United States, Kazakhstan and India.

AEEC supports its members in organising projects in the areas of energy, infrastructure, utility and communication, and environment. Co-operation between the member firms is very well established and enables the regular exchange of reliable information regarding the dynamic legal and economic development of the energy sector at European level. AEEC’s members are ideal partners for cross-border consultation in energy and utility law matters, and their services include advising on international energy trading and supporting parallel multinational activities. The client circle of our members stretches well beyond the private sector to include state companies, municipalities, regional and national governmental institutions.

The AEEC organises several events per years in the form of expert seminars, internal meetings or public conferences. This ensures that members have the opportunity to meet regularly, maintain their networking ties and exchange the latest information. AEEC events take place all over Europe, adding a true international dimension to our organisation. AEEC, headquartered in Berlin, is led and represented by a Board of Directors, which manages the association’s affairs.
